This is a true ‘Community Yoga’ class! Mamas can venture out of the nest with their little ones and begin to reconnect with their bodies in the safe, supportive company of other brand new moms. Babies can nap or nuzzle close, or practice their Happy Baby Pose. Class is taught in Vinyasa Flow style with the intention to help reconnect with core, redevelop strength, and open all those tight, achy places common in those first months post-natal. Each class is appropriately tailored to whomever shows up, and offered with enough flexibility to allow for the needs of the little ones. Breastfeeding and diaper changes welcome.
Appropriate for all levels and babies newborn to crawling.

Restorative Yoga + Yoga Nidra

Restorative yoga is the practice of relaxation. Soothing and nourishing resting poses are held for 5-10 minutes each with an array of blankets and cushions to comfort and support the body. The goal is to get in touch with and learn to activate your body’s relaxation response. Restorative yoga helps to relieve stress and anxiety, boost immune function, help people heal from illness and trauma, and gently stretch and open muscles and joints.

More than just an intro for beginners, Yoga 101 is a place to begin to truly understand the whole of the practice. Taught in weekly components, this series will introduce you to the complete 8 Limb Path of Yoga, including the theory and philosophy that underlies it. Learn proper use of asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) to attain desired effects. This is a perfect place to begin cultivating your own at home yoga practice with guidance and space to ask all the questions that come up along the way.
Appropriate for brand new beginners and experienced yogis who want to deepen their practice.

The Espíritu Salvaje Yoga Center has an extraordinary view of Ballena (Whale) Bay and Uvita Point, surrounded by the Quebrada Grande Stream and rainforest of La Cusinga Lodge. Its isolation and freedom from modern artificial audio/visual distractions is a desired location, as well as being next to the Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, the first whale environment preservation national park of Costa Rica.

Single/Shared Occupancy Rooms: Beautiful private bungalow style accommodations, all with huge ocean views of Ballena Marine National Park, the rainforest, and much more. All of the rooms are made from reforested wood from trees planted on the same land 20 years ago. The architecture includes local craftsmanship using wood, stone, shell, and sand. Each bungalow has its own private bathroom to be shared by all occupants.

All registrants are responsible for booking and managing their own international travel between Philadelphia and San Jose International Airport (SJO) in San Jose, Costa Rica. Group shuttle transportation to and from La Cusinga Eco Lodge in Uvita is included in the cost of the retreat. Once you are registered you will receive information regarding appropriate flight times.
